A I bet this ghost had a troubled past that we never heard about. Not to justify it's actions, but I worry about the perpetual cycle of violence and retaliation. The music makes me think of justification (for the actions of the villagers), but ends with a result (the fall of the ghost) that offers no glimpse of the consequence--no denouement. Which, to be clear, I find incredibly fitting (given that perpetual=no end).

Also pumped that I got my hands on the blood orange copy. YES. Favorite track: The Death of the Mountain Ghost.

Rod Astorga A great start to a hopefully long career. Interesting melodies, twisting time signatures and atmospheric bliss are only a few of the many things Kylver serves up with this release. Favorite track: The Mountain Has Ghosts.

Will Howlett Diamond in the rough, this has got countless plays from me. Amazing riffs, textures and drums. Awesome Stoner/Prog metal. Favorite track: The Death of the Mountain Ghost.

Sean Thomas Quality oozes from this release from start to finish and I can't recommend it enough. Hard to pick a best track but i've plummed for opener The Mountain Has Ghosts. It's a fabulous track building and changing throughout its 15 minutes duration, but its final 5 minutes in particular are untouchable. Breathtaking Favorite track: The Mountain Has Ghosts.

Frederic Bezies A good progressive instrumental metal album. One of the best I heard in 2015. Favorite track: The Dance of the Mountain Ghost.

‘The Mountain Ghost’ is a concept record that interoperates the tail of a spirit that inhabits a mountain deep in a remote Mountain range is a far off land. During the winter months the spirit travels down the mountain to a small village that sits in the floor of the valley to torment the people of the village. After generations of winter torment the villagers decide to lure the Mountain Ghost to a feast they hold in his honour in an attempt to make peace with him. But instead of making peace with the spirit the villagers hatch a cunning plan to poison his wine which leads his slow and agonising death.
